The story

enDice has actually no story. It’s just a new unique and fun puzzle game. It reminds me of Sokoban, just that here there isn’t a character moving the dices. And I have to warn you: this game it’s not going to be easy at all: after the first 5 levels it gets pretty hard, even for experienced puzzle game players.

Gameplay

As any puzzle game, it doesn’t have much action in it. You have to make some moves in order to complete a certain configuration. The number of moves left are shown on each dice.

First level has a small tutorial

Although it may seem nice and relaxing at first, it gets harder and harder even on the so-called”easy” and “medium” levels. So if you think you’re a hardcore puzzle game lover, then this game is for you.

There are 4 difficulty modes: easy, medium, hard, and harder. For the first 3 difficulty options, the first level is unlocked, but that won’t help you much because even in the easy set the last levels are pretty hard and a lot of people get stuck.

A good tip is to look at the number of each die to see if it’s odd or even, so this way you can think which square can be the final position for that particular dice.

Conclusion

enDice is a new unique puzzle with nice graphics, but unfortunately is pretty hard for the average players.

The story

Zilch is a dice game of great skill and a little luck, as the author’s saying. Indeed, after you play it for a while you realize that on the long run, in order to win, you don’t need any luck at all. It’s much more important to know how to play your dices, to know when to roll again and when to stop.

Gameplay

You play against the computer in turns. You roll your 6 dices and if you win at least 300 points you can chose to roll again or cash in. If you chose to roll again, you can be busted (or “zilched”) by getting no winning combination and lose the previous points in your current turn. If all your 6 dices are part of a winning combination, you get a free roll. This is very good because it increases your score very much. Who gets to 10,000 points wins the game.

Game in progress

There are 3 modes of the CPU: easy, normal and hard, and they are actually called reckless, cautious and realist. The realist mode makes you feel like you would play with a human player and not with a computer.

What’s great about this game is that it has awards, and it really has lots of them. This makes you want to play again and again to earn as many as you can!

Conclusion

Although Zilch is a simple dice game, the realist CPU and the high variety of awards make it unique and fun to play.

Title Screen

The story

Your pirate ship has shipwrecked on a strange island and you have to defend it from evil monsters. There are all sort of weapons and turrets that can help you. You need to earn enough money to repair the ship and leave the island as soon as possible.

Gameplay

This is a typical defense game: you have to defend your ship by killing all monsters. There is a catch though: each monster is sensible to only one weapon (you can kill blobs only with the nail, birds with a cage, flames with water drops, etc). You can also buy turret guns and pirate snipers, which can help you killing the monsters.

Like all defense games, there are lots of upgrades: you can upgrade your weapons, your snipers and even your maximum ship health. You have to spend money wisely, because you’ll need them to repair the ship as fast as you can. I advise you not to research sniper training at all, because it’s expensive and you can kill all the monsters by yourself anyway (they die fast if you upgraded all the weapons).

Conclusion

Although the graphics are funny and cartoonish, the game is way too short. I first finished it in 20 days (game time), and this took about one hour of play. I tried it again and I finished it even faster, so the replay rate is very slow. It could have been a good idea to add more islands with more monsters and harder to kill.

First level

The story

Billy Genocide is set in a post-apocalyptic world, where most of the population has transformed to zombies. Now you are walking on the streets and are determined to kill all zombies who dare to stand in front of you.

Gameplay

This is a side-scrolling shooter. You have to kill everything you see. When you see a question mark on the walls, you need to search that place to see if there’s any weapon or item you can use later. There are various weapons you can pick up: a crow bar, hand gun, long gun, minigun, etc.

On your way you’ll get to some blockades, where fellow people will ask you to give them items of your choice or weapons to let you pass… The bad part is that it really doesn’t matter what items you have collected, you’ll need to trade your weapon to advance to the next level. And this is called “negotiation”. Pfff.

Killing zombies

Conclusion

Although the graphics and animations are awesome, the game is too easy and very repetitive. You just have to shoot (by pressing Space) and kill zombies over and over again. You don’t have to aim and there’s no strategy involved. Shoot, shoot, search for items, then shoot some more. That’s all there is.

In-game screenshot

This is a good single-player card game. You can get cards with all sorts of abilities; you also have life and health, and what’s interesting is that you can still play if you lose your health, but you’ll go insane: according to a random disease, your choices will be limited, and this only makes the game even more fascinating! You play against the computer, but even so it doesn’t seem to get boring.

I have never actually liked this type of game before, but after I’ve played it a little it seems that it’s quite challenging. And yes, even if there’s not much action, it can still be cool.

The complete list of cards

The AI is pretty good, and the game is getting harder after the 11th round (”Deep One Spawn” vs “Mi-Go Slave”). If you think you have some free time to spare, then you should try it.

Also, there are 21 challenges; some of them are good and keep you playing, and some others seem to be based on pure luck, although in most cases you can win if you’re good enough.
